The Black Guard Cometh

Commissioning Editor Mathilda Imlah from Head of Zeus has acquired UK & Commonwealth rights to two novels in a debut British fantasy series by A. J. Smith, from Diane Banks Associates.

Head of Zeus will publish the first book in the series, The Black Guard, in the Summer of 2013.

Through the Traitor's Gate

Head of Zeus has acquired a "fast-paced thriller", Traitor's Gate by crime writer Michael Ridpath, about a plot to kill Hitler as Europe stands on brink of war.

Publisher Nic Cheetham bought world English rights from Oliver Munson at Blake Friedmann Literary Agency.

Head of Zeus Win Fantasy Auction

Head of Zeus has triumphed in a fiercely contested six-way auction to acquire a debut fantasy trilogy by 30-year-old computer game designer Luke Scull in a strong six-figure deal.

Mathilda Imlah bought UK and Commonwealth rights to The Grim Company and two sequels through Robert Dinsdale, working in association with A M Heath. Deals are "pending" in the US and Europe.

Master of War

Head of Zeus has acquired three books by television screenwriter David Gilman, with the first to be published as a lead title for summer 2013.

Publisher Nic Cheetham bought UK and British Commonwealth rights in the three historical adventure books, which will form the beginning of the Master of War series. The deal was signed with Isobel Dixon at Blake Friedmann. 

The First 100 Days

On April 12 Head of Zeus celebrated both the end of the company's first one hundred days and the arrival of its first catalogue. Coincidentally the number of titles acquired since the company was founded also rose to 100.
